    4 link in a nova

I really would like to put a 4 link with coilover shocks in my Nova ? The trunk ad wheel wellare pretty hacked up ,but everyone says to restore it to orignal, sorry its my car I will be mini tub and shortening the rear axle some for bigger tires and while I have it on the rotisserie I am going to integrate channels into the floor pan to strengthen the body I intend to have 600 HP in this thing and I want it to stick and not twist ,I dont want a roll cage ,it has one now and I may just remove the frt part so I can put shoulder seat belts in it .Just lookin for idea's guys whats out there

You are probably going to need at least a 6 point cage to keep some of the twist out of the car. Hard to keep the chassis all tied up without bars.

what are your intentions with the car
    Drag race......?
    Cornering......?
    Street car.......?

I know total cost involved makes a 4 link set up for early novas 62-67 and DSE makes one for the later models 68-72

4-linkin that car is easy, especially with a rotisseire....buy an inexpensive kit from Art Morrison or Alston...it installs fairly simple...if you have the car on a rotisseire, you have the experience i'm sure to complet this...dont worry what your friends say, how many they got or done ya know?..Afco makes a good shock and you can easily run em on the street...dont lose the cage tho...at least put a swingout on the side rails...join the front sub to the rear 4-link assbly and use a good sway bar...twist is ugly...make the frame strong and with the addition of a sway bar it will leave straight and hook(provided you adjust the 4-link correctly)...oh, and tub it, dont mini tub it...later you may want some FAT tires...do the job once and do it right...keep us posted...i love a backhalf car

I'm with BrianTTM - Tub it right from the start - you'll save yourself a lot of time & effort later. Remember: it is easier to run a smaller tire in a full tub'd car than to run a bigger 1 in a mini-tub car!! Plus "mini" has a bad connotation!!

And whilst your at it go ahead & remove the stock front end & build a strut front 4 it. It will be easier to build headers & run a rack.

Ask a guy who knows.......... that'd be me.

    CUT IT!!

yes roll cage car on the street suck big time i had a 66 gto cage to hell and back and sold it i do not like the ideal of my head going up to 1 3/4 125 dom tube with out a heimet on it i think if you take your time and think about it you may add some to it and keep some flex out . on the front end what year is this ?? i just did a set of 2 3/8 headers for a nova that had 565 chevy in it stock sub the front end are not that bad to work on? you need to set the ride height .i do not know can you do this up side down ??i think it need to be on the floor tack every thing up and put it back on the rotieiress to weld it all in

Competition Engineering has a complete frme kit that you could use . Make sure everything is really square when you install your subframe , take your time measure corner to corner to be exact . I would use a tig to do all the welding .There are some really nice coil over kits out there , with a complete subframe welded in your car you would only have to put a roll-cage in as extra measure . But it would stiffen thing's up a bit.

My friends just see a 69 Nova ss with good sheet metal and interior and want it restored to original, they havent seen how badly hacked the rear section is also the drive shaft came thru the floor a few times pans arent rusted just look like hell from underneath ,I saw an article about tieing the frt and rear together with a channel run thru the floor pans so I'll prob go that route .I am gonna look into cage options,I guess it better stay, didnt realise the body strengthening it provided ,sorry guys ,this is my first uni body ,Chevelle had a frame
