Hello Forum;

I am a new member and have a question about my setup on my new project for my 16 and 12 yo daughters and I. Just aquired a 1939 2 Door Chevy Sedan. I also have a 1935-40 Chevy truck front solid axle with 1953/54 Chevy spindles. This car is being setup as a gasser with a 364 buick Nailhead and TH400 with an adapter and a Ford 9 inch rear.

Question is - I have read many posts about setups for straight axles on the front and some mention the use of trailer leaf springs. I have searched different vendors and ebay and wondering what is the ideal capacity rating for the leaf springs that I would use on this. I see them range from 1000lbs per pair to 3500 lbs per pair.

Would trailer springs actually work or should I go with the 1935-40 front springs, and have also seen the 1954 chevy 1/2 truck springs used.

I am new to the Gasser world and would appreciate any help anyone could provide.
