Stock strut rods should work for you then. The critical part of it is that the center of the rubber biscuit (the actual pivot point) must be exactly in line with the centerline of the lower control arm bushing bore. If it isn't, you'll get binding and breakage.

If you used the rack that came with the rest of the pieces you have, it should work well without any bastard pieces. If you have bumpsteer, then you didn't mount the rack exactly like it was mounted on the stock MII.
