Connecting Pont column to Toyota box

I've got a '84 Toyota PS box with universal joint and the bottom half of a rag joint. I just picked up a '74 Firebird tilt steering column that ends in a 1" diam spline. Anyone know an easy way to 'marry' these ends? Does GM make a 1" inner diam rag joint?

between 1" and 4"... the column hasn't been mounted yet. with the bottom mounting plate at the floor, I have 1" of space between rag joint and spline.

Toured the junk yards today...With temp here in southern Tx at 94 deg, you can imagine it with all that metal radiating back at you, feels like 115 deg. I Found a 1" splined universal set-ups on a '84 and '85 Chevy van. I'll go gack tomorrow in the cooler temps and pull it. With a little imagination, bailing wire, and chewing gum, I may get these parts to fit. (Note to self...Ask MORE questions, measure-measure-measure, THEN go pull part).
