Any 2 wheel drive rear should work. The ratios in the 4 bangers are not as good as the ones that came with V6s. I'd also look under late Cameros and Firebirds. They will have a lot of bracketry to cut off but they come with disc brakes. I would take the "U" bolts and every thing that comes off with them. The yard will most likely cut them and if they do you will have to buy replavements. The price will most likely be the same. Before you go to the yard measure the distance between your rear springs and the distance between the brake backing plates. Look in the wheel well and see how much room you have. Make notes. When you go to the yard measure the distance between the springs and the distance between your backing plates. The spring pads can be moved in or out so long as there is room. The wheels can come in a bit so long as they will clear in the wheel wells.

I would also look for a blazer rear end. Blazers had rear disk brakes and many of them were posi. They all had V6s so you should either get a 3.42 or a 3.73 gear ratio. The 4 wheel drive blazer rear ends were four inches wider than the two wheel drive I believe. If your not looking for disks but still want posi look in the glove box in the S-10. If it has a G-80 code than it is a posi.
