Yeah I had one give me fits on a 70 Caprice, would run fine for a while then just die, usually would start back up in a minute or two, this might happen 4 or 5 times a day or not at all for a week, after trying everything else I was checking the voltage to the pertronic unit with a digital volt meter, it was running around 12 1/2 then all at once it fell to 8 1/2 and she died, the minimum voltage is 10 or 10 1/2 ( it's been a few years, check your instructions ) so I replaced the 30 year old wire with a new 12gauge wire and drove the car for two more years with no trouble, hope this helps.
