I checked with a local brake shop specializing in vintage vehicles. After removing the drum, I find that the front wheel cylinders need to be replaced. The number stamped into the cylinder is 2766 on the left front, and it looks like 2767 on the right front. They are the stepped bore type. The shop said they'd be about $50 each. Does anyone know of an online resource for these?
I read an ad for converting to disc brakes for around $350, front only. As wheel cylinders are notorious for leaking, would an upgrade be a good move ? Is there more that would have to be done, eg new master cylinder etc.....?
thanks, mike
