    Ranchero 1968

I have a 68 ranchero with no power all wheel drums. Can I just add a power booster to the system? If so what mods would I have to do to the car to get the booster to work? Anybody know of a place wear I can get the parts for this to work at a reasonable price.

    thanks

Those guys are a little expensive. If Your car is an old fairlane type Look for a fairlane to rob all the stuff out of, disc spindales calapers lines and all. Did that for a mavrick once and it only cost about 200 bucks.

probably. but new is expensive, so if you're gonna go get a used one, get teh other parts too. front disc brakes will do mroe to aid in stopping than all the added power in the world.

you'll need to plumb in a vac line to the manifold.
check with any parts store to see if they master cylinder is the same for manual and power brakes - it may not be. if different, then you'll need one for a power brake system or else you may glue your face to the windshiled every time yo hit the brakes.

you'll also possibly (most likely) need the pedal to booster rod and the rod from booster to MC.

it is also possible that the rod's pivot point on the brake pedal is different - but there should be the necessary hole on the pedal arm. (power brakes need less leverage)

Power brakes? They just take up power! Good idea to stick with the drumbs though. Old cars and trucks should drive like old cars and trucks. Brakes don't make ya go faster they just slow ya down!

vacuum assist power brakes take no power from the engne to operate.

if you can slow down quicker and with more confidence, you drive faster. AND if you can stop before ya hit the tree, ya can drive again tomorrow!
