Points replacement
Hi guys
Has anyone had experience of replacing the points in a FE block with the hall effect unit.
Does this improve/degrade performance and how reliable are they.I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal labotomy.

I have a Petronix unit in my 73 F100. It's a 360 with 390 heads, Edlebrock intake, 600 Holley, and Hedman headers. Runs great. I also use a Petronix coil and I rebuilt the dist before I put the Petronix in.Ken Thomas

I've done some conversions in the past and they work very well, (don't remember the brand) But I want the magnito look in my coupe with the 3 dueces and being the cheap S.O.B. that I am or maybe its just that if they built it I can too, I'm not willing to spend the $500 for the electronic ign. fake mags, Specially when I got a perfectly good vertex on the shelf
You can buy the little box to convert points to electronic for bout a hundred bucks,But what ya gonna do out on the road when if it fails ? Buy 2 so ya got a back up ? carry a spare dist. & coil (Hei unit won't clear the rear carb) For now guess I'll get her goin with the stock vertex and decide later...
