weight of a motor

i just pulled the 255 straight 6 chevy and 3 speed manual and i am going to install a 305 and 3 speed manual what is the approx weight of each . i want to dertermine if need to change the springs or use diff shocks ?they seem fairly close in weight to me. thnx fer ya help

Shouldnt be a problem. I would reccomend the springs for the V8 though, otherwise, your front end will set low and your ride will suffer.

Pickups are designed to carry extra weight. The difference between the engines won't cause any problems. Do you notice any difference when you carry a passenger?

The springs on these trucks were the same no matter the engine. The differences in the suspension were due to load capability. C/10's used one control arm and C/20 and C/30 models used another. The same springs were used on all models and all engines (I-6 or V-8).

thnx all once again. to the rescue .gunna put the v 8 in today and posted last night so now i wont have to worry woohoo... v8 .. v8 .. v8.. v8!!!!!
