Chevy's have their place - as boat anchors!
No really, I got this jeep cheap becuase, well, the chevy 305 is banging - if it turns at all. it has oil, just no pressure.
in my garage is a 700R4..junk.
my friends' camaro, the 84 i am getting a replacement 305 from - it has a 305 in it because the factory engine, umm, died.
79 malibu..the v6 died. the 350 replacement died. the 305 replacement for that died.
70 bonneville. 455, died.
88 caddy sdn deville, v8, died.
74 lesabre, 350, died
91 roadmaster, died
the only living chevy i know of (among family and friends) is a 96 corsica, but it has only 40k on it.
72 ltd, 351c, lived
785 ltd, 400m, lived
85 escort, 1.9?, beat to hell and no maintenance, lived
63 ford, 289, run 12 miles with a seized oil pump, lived (used pump installed, drove it for 20k miles more)
74 pinto, 2.0L, snapped timing belt, changed belt, it lived
85 turbo t bird, 4 turbos, 1 engine, 230k living still
93 taurus, 162k, living still
79 lincoln, 400m 95k, lliving still
I don't know of a ford engine to have died amongst my friends and relatives.
Chevy's may be cheaper to work on, but you get what you pay for
There must be some reason GM is losing market share on new vehicles!
BTW, Ford and Chevy are BOTH better than any import.
