Help!
Hello,
I am new to hot rodding and new to the board. I have done a search but am not able to find what I need. I have a 1941 Ford Coupe and I can not find the Vehcile Identification Number. Can someone please tell me where I should look and is it a stamped or a raised number?
I am desperate.
Thanks
Deon

Great information, but I am confused yet again. The VIN number of my car, according to the title is 184897565 and according to the early ford serial numbers link the 41 was a 185 number. Am I missing something here?

Streets gave you all the info you need. If you can't read the whole number the letters might be filled with dirt, grease so just get a rag and some gas and wipe the crud off. Asstreets says what does your registration show?Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

My Title/Registration says 184897565.
I can't find the number on the non body covered areas and the original engine has been replaced by a MII suspension and BB 427. The frame has been painted so I am going to try and stip it with a chemical stripper and see if I can't find it.
Thanks

Ugh, no luck on the front. Either it was ground off during the installation of the MII Front end or it is under the suspension components.
I am in luck though, the trunk was rotten out and the previous owner cut a large 3'x3' hole in the trunk, basically from wheel well to wheel well and from the back end to axle. I have been able to expose the rear drivers frame from the rear cross member to the filler nozzle hump. I am going to try and strip the paint from this area tomrrow, ran out of stripper this evening, and see what I can get.

Well here we go. The "title Number" on my title is a 184 number for a 41 Ford. With the great data that was provided to me this would obviously be a problem. I did find the number on the back framerail and sure enough it is a 185 number. That being said the 18 are missing from the overall number and it starts with a 5.
Ugh, now I am off to go discuss with DMV.
Thanks again for your help
