Thanks streets, what looked like the coil wire that hooks to the ignition switch has come off so maby that's why but, I'll connect the 1 half of the wire I cut and jump that to the battery on the positive sitde ( same way I made the lights work except, with the other side of the wire ). I did know that his wiring was junky and I said to myself " why not the ignition switch and the coil instead " the minuite I realized the way it was truly wired. All of that old wiring will be removed and I will rewire it correctly, maby I'll wire it into the horn switch instead of the ignition.
I just tried to start my car again after jumping the wire to the battery, I got nothing then, I looked at the coil, it looks like it bleed to death, it is all black greasy on the sides and, on the botton I can see a line crack where oil could have passed through, gona have to order a new coil also, that shoulden't be to expensive.
I kinda like the 6 volt system, it's diffrent and I'd like to be a little diffrent, 75% of the kids in my class don't know what a 6 volt system is. I got the battery from TSC ( Tractor Supply Company ) and it cost me 29.88. Are you saying I can order the coil from TSC?
Oh yeah, I was arleady considering a main power disconnect under the dash.
6 volts are neat!! what year was it that they changed to 12v '56 or '57?
www.Carnut.com says Chevy had there first -12 volt system in '55.

I like to take chances sometimes:LOL:   , and even then the farthest I'll ever go is to saracuse to the Car show and, that's only approx 37 miles from our house in Savanah NY and, a little run down used tractor and lawn tractor sales and parts shop is right around the corner about 5-10 miles maby less. Course the drive up there is 3.5 hrs but, I can buy extra points and other simple ignitions system componets so if somtin does go wrong. Montazuma Winery is also down the road. our 2nd house probably isn't to far from your house and 37Chevy's also :D
It's getting dark, I can't wait to hotwire my green lights to see what they look like in the dark, I'll post pics to.
The lights arn't anything to be excited about, just looks like 2 green lights behind the grill, dosen't glow much at all.
What tranny fluid do I put in this old Powerglide? It's a little low and, I don't want to put the wrong trans fluid to burn up the tranny.
