On our race car back in the 70s we usually used the same head,gasket,block many times-of course the heads were conatantly getting torqued with studs and high quality torque wrenches-

Also---could you have twisted the rods around from the bottom end????????

AND---pistons marked wrong? on 2 sets?? or are you referancing front pointing arrows on rear facing boat engines????
