Dont take this wrong, but to me your motor sits way to low in a cobra to make a statement with a wild color as are most cars, a street rod to me is an exception as they tend to stick up without inner fenders etc ex Rogers coupe. What makes cobras and other motors pop is the top end, the valve colors, intake and induction. I myself would head to a bright neutral color, white, silver or even gold on the block (if not factory) and hit your valve covers air cleaner etc with flash, when I mean that head to the plater or powder coater with the intake, valve covers and etc, the injectors speak for themselves. I think most "motor" guys are more impressed with parts and sound and not color.
The next thing you will have to deal with is other cobra and true Ford fans, true its your car and make yourself happy (hey I have a Chrysler in a Ford) but these guys will tell you about it every time you pop the hood, I hear about it and its a street rod and they tend to never have the "correct" engine for the car, my buddy hears about it with his vette too. Have fun and its a cool car anyway you go

I agree. After I had to sell my first 428FE to help pay my extreme medical bills ($26,000 of the total $267,000 at the Mayo Clinic for26 days) I wanted to build a original 427 side oiler or one of the three new aluminum side oilers in my Cobra. I bought a alum. block from Genesis, sent it and all the rotating assembly to a noted FE engine builder, cash money, but he stole it all. Lost 10k.

I was very surprised that a couple of months ago, he's trying to pay me back. We'll see.

Anyway, I like a lot of what Carroll built, and tried to do the same with mine, but with some bling.
I had to use a 427 or 428FE, 15" original type wheels & tires etc. (I have a set of "Billboard" tires)
    Radio delete too. lol

    I almost,.....built a Ford 460 blocked, punched out to 514ci, making 625 HP/TQ (+) for around $11,000.
Cando that for an FE, but,....I couldn't do that, had to build a expensive FE. Until,....finding Mr.Dove's engine !

I wanted over 600 HP, especially TQ, but over 500 is fine because it's built by Dove and,the beautful and STUDLY COOL stacked injection ! Lol

Even though my health is bad, I CAN'T WAIT,....to get it all done, looking, feeling, hearing and driving the Cobra again, after the last very bad ten years ! woot-woot....lol
