I cut the port holes today.

The Jacob's chuck I used didn't like the 1 1/2" drill I was trying to use. It's hard to find a sharp, perfect tool in class, students are hard on them. For ports 5&6 I used a hole saw. You can't do overlapping holes with a drill. A hole saw is the ticket.

I'm looking at the engine mounts and Pittman arm. Looks like trouble.

Not trouble, just another opportunity to further sharpen your skills.

    Abort mission

    IT

    DOESN'T

    FIT

    AT

    ALL

To make this work, I'd have to cut out the firewall. Not interested in a project that big. Thought sure the 301 is comparable to a 350 that folks stick in all the time, with just minor alteration of the trans tunnel.

I am way dissapointed. Huge. I'm advertizing it for sale. If I can get a reasonable price, i'll let it go, and it'll probably end up on the track somewhere. Otherwise, i'll do front seal and timing belt, and see how much more milage I can squeeze out of it.

Why not try selling or trading the pontiac 301 for a sbc and continue forward with the project?

I'd have better luck selling ice to Eskimos. No one wants a 301. I do have it listed though.

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Same here. Though I do seem to remember that Pontiac engines are somewhat longer than Mouse Motors.
