    I would try a soft copper washer (like a brake crush washer) as long as its not to thick to hamper the proper thread engagement, I would also put a little antisieze on the threads and on your washer as a lubricant that way the fitting will not try to "bite" the washer when tightening which is probably what tore it originally.     Saw a tech tip a while back about making your own copper washer from a chunk of soft copper tubing, squeezed down in a vice around a right sized bolt and a piece of steel pipe/tube, if you can't find one the right size.
