1967 thunderbird 390 with c-6 trans loose shifter
HI all,
trying to get my t-bird back on the road. I notice the other day that my shifter has no resistance when shifting. Is the a spring or pin in the valve body that I can change?
any help is appreciated
Kenny

Yes, there is a flat piece of spring steel fastened on one end at the valve body and the other end rides on the detent cam. It may have broken from fatigue.

unhook the shift rod and see where the slop is .. if the trans is ok there should be a noticeable click and some resistance as you move the shift arm attached on the trans ..iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

I'd visit my local independent tranny shop and see if they would sell me one alone, or next, visit a Pick 'N Pull and get one out of a trashed c6.Roger
