Navy,
The AutoMeter instructions walk you through all of the details - http://www.autometer.com/productPDF/1164.pdf Most OEM speed senders are a two wire sine wave device, and one wire is grounded, while the other is the signal to the speedometer. The power wires to the speedometer, not to the tranny. The reference to "output to PCM" that you see is for modern cars that require a speed input to the car's computer. If you run into problems AutoMeter has all of the different sending units available that you might need, but I'm confident that the OEM sender will work fine. As a fall back, the AutoMeter techs are great to deal with. My tach went erratic after about a year, and after talking to them we agreed that they needed it for diagnostics. I got a brand new one by return and have had no problems with any of the gauges since.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
