Richard, did your '47 have that cool speedometer that glowed green when you started off, then glowed yellow between maybe 45 and sixty, then turned red when you took your life in your hands and floor-boarded that mighty flat head six up to whatever top speed you could get?

Not sure about the glowing speedo. I don't remember that.
I do remember racing a '50 Ford on a narrow road between the drag strip and home in Dayton. The old Dodge was packed with guys, maybe 6 or 8 of us and I was doing an indicated 85 mph on a narrow road, side by side with the '50, across narrow culverts and hell-bent for leather on questionable second-hand tires.....port-a-walls flappin' in the wind.....I have no idea how we survived our youth.......
