I'm new to wrenching on cars and I have a 79 El Camino with a 350 crate engine. I was having problems with heat soak on the starter until one day I went to start the car and it was cranking over really sloooow. I heard a loud click come from the starter so I let off the key and went to try and start it agin and there was nothing no click, no hum,nothing it was like the starter wasn't even there. I removed the old starter and replaced it with a new one but I still get nothing. The battery is fine and I checked the wire end and polished them up before installing the new starter. I know this is a very common problem with chevy 350 and I plan on putting in a heat shield. Anybody have an idea what the problem could be? Any help would be appreciated!
