I have done it, it is hard. You have to go slow to eep from cracking the line. I don't like doing it either. LOL

I've done it in the past Charlie, you need a good tool to do it, the good tool makes it a breeze.

    Hi,
I was wondering if I could inject a question. Can someone explain the difference between the import (ISO) flare and the American double flare? I keep reading these terms, but details are always absent.

    Thanks,

    hj

I thought you guys used the same 45 degree double flare as we in England do, 37 degree single flare is not common here

A 45* double flare anywhere is ..... still a 45* double flare anywhere in the world. That 37* flare - as far as I know is for AN and is only a single flare. Then there are ISO, bubble and who knows what else the EU/CE, Far Easterners came up with in one of their fondest dreams

Oh yeah - I jtried to do a couple double flares on some scrap 1/4" SS brake line yesterday - split at the fold both times before completion

I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Are the flares you are referring to metric by chance?
