I learned many years ago not to pay a bit of attention to the "don't cut it up" crowd.... Stock and boring cars don't do a thing for me and anyway, anyone can restore a classic, takes a man to cut one up and make it better!!! If people were really that intent on preserving a car, they'd be laying out big cash for yours and restore it themselves. Money talks and bs walks, build what you want and don't let others expectations limit your imagination!!!!
