Power steering gear box question
I am building a total custm rig, ground up. Frame, body, etc.My question is can I take a power steering box and turn it upside down so output shaft is on other side? I know the pump can't be reversed (direction of rotation)and work because of the fins inside. But the gear box i'm not sure. The output shaft is currently facing to the right I need it to go to the left. Will this work or is there valves inside that have to be in a certain position? Pump and gear box are from same vehicle.Last edited by Jim63; 07-06-2011 at 11:57 AM.

Yes. Its a sagi. gear box. If you look at many vehicles that have this box, they are in many different positions. Like vans, trucks, etc. I have a 1952 White Semi I chopped 4 inches chanled 5inches, 2x4 custom frame. The front and rear axlex are from a 72 winnebago motor home, the doors are 8 inches off the ground. It will look like a semi when done.

Jim,
Saw one something like you describe when we were in California a couple of years back - a cut down Peterbilt (I think) that had all the proportions right, and sat very low. It was cruising down the street as we left the airport, and there was no chance to get a photo but it was super cool. Looking forward to seeing pictures of yours when you get a chance to post some.Roger

If you don't have a photobucket account you should get one. They sometimes work here and sometimes don't.It's more this site than photobucket.
Works like this:
Hook your camera to your pc by the usb port and down load those pictures.
Then open your new photobucket account
Then bulk load those pictures to that account
Then go to the bottom of each picture and you will see a "copy" function
Then go to the thread that you want to post the pictures right click and paste them on that thread.
Four yrs ago you would be explaining that to me.Once you get use to it,it's very easy.

Gary's way works, but I take a different tack to the problem, as I have an aversion to posting everything twice. First, I have my camera set to "PC Screen (1024) so I don't have to resize anything. Save the pictures to your hard drive, then select "Go Advanced" on the Reply, or when you start a new thread. In the "Advanced" mode you simply type your message, and when you're ready to put your pictures in just scroll down on the screen to the "Additional Options" box, and click "Manage Attachments". In the small box that shows, click "Select Files" and it will take you to your computer folders. Simply find the picture file names that you want to post, left click the first one, then use "CTRL click" to add multiple files and click "Open" to upload them to the CHR message folder. Click "Upload Files" and then "Done". Once they are uploaded you can highlight the file names and move them around in your message if you want, like you can describe a process, have a picture of the result; then describe the next step, add a picture; and so on. Hope that helps.Roger

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
