Do you have free play in the master cylinder push rod when the peddle is released/up?
The piston in the master might not be retracting fully and being held in slightly by the push rod.
Also, leave the cap or cover loose while bleeding.

Did you bench bleed the master ???Its aweful lonesome in the saddle since my horse died.

what roadster said..................you may have lots of air in the system if the MC was not bench bled.
