Since she tends to puke a little more than the side tubestyle tank can handle on extemely hot days, I figure it will be useful :cool:
I'm using a 2 gal moon tank now, mounted between spreader bar and grill. Although I may make it functional as fuel tank. Found a nice little manual two way valve to switch between tanks...............but who knows. It looks cool...:3dSMILE:

Sorry to hijack your thread. Let me ask you about your radiator overflow issue. You certainly have enough radiator surface area there, what kind of fan and shroud are you running? Thermostat? Cap pressure? Reason I ask is with that big of a radiator (if everything else is right) it should cool great.

That puke tank will only catch any fluid that gets out, If you want a proper coolant recovery system you will need a different tank.
The Tank should work fine as long as it has a tube inside running to the bottom or the fitting is on the bottom. Most coolant recover tanks on cars these days sit lower than the top of the radiator and the hose is attached to the bottom of the tank
She already has a slimline recovery tank that starts off empty and usually stays that way, but on extremely hot days, it fills up and pukes about 12oz.Quote:

Oh, and make sure your overflow hose from the radiator goes to the correct fitting on the bottom of the overflow tank. It should go to the lowest one when looking down into the overflow tank. The theory is, the excess coolant rises and eventually will come out the taller tube. If you are hooked up to the wrong one it will spill out much faster onto the ground.
One thing you could look into is the 160 deg T-Stat. Too low of t-stat could make you run hotter because it is not letting the coolant stay in the rediator lon enought to cool it down.
I had a 77 vette that had a 160 deg t-stat in it and it ran 210-230 deg. Lost coolant all of the time. Put in a 180 deg t-stat and it ran 185-190 all of the time.
Just a thought,
if the radiator cap does not have the vacuum valve, you need a different 1.. it's a little spring loaded cup on the bottom under the gasket.. this is what Don is talking about
