Also depends on the brand of wax you use. If you use brand names like Meguiers or Mothers etc, then doing the car once in the spring and again in the fall should be fine.

I was talking to a guy at GG NW Nat's with a black '33 and he had just come back from talking to the guys at Meguiers about the little blotches on his paint. They told him he had too much wax buildup, and he needed to hit it with a spray cleaner to take away the buildup and then detailing spray. He did and it was looking great again.
