OK, I really don't need a stereo in my rod as I doubt I'd be able ot hear anything over the straight pipes anyways, but I can't stand to see the open DIN slot on the dash any longer :o
Not looking for anything fancy, just a headunit and 2 or 4 concealed speakers, but I don't have a clue what to go with or where to mount them :confused:
I figured I'd pst up here to get some ideas :cool:

I bought a pretty sweet system from crutchfield. Its called the Boston Acoustics "all star package" 4 speakers, sub, and amp, with all the wiring for about $1000. Its a hell of a deal. Have to add a head unit to it, but anything will do. I am adding a Nav with back up camera, so worked great for me.
Not looking to spend nearly that much, but where are your speakers mounted?
A regular HU with a set of 4.5" coaxials will be more than enough, but I want it neat and out of the way :o
For an inexpensive set-up I prefer Alpine and good used ones come up on Ebay all of the time. As far as speaker location, what kind of vehicle are you talking about?

If there is a package tray behind the seat that would be my first choice. I would be hesitant to cut up the door panels. BTW, that is a nice looking 29.
it all depends on what you want to spend. over there gear is alot cheaper than here in aus so you have better options. if you want it 'concealed' but want to be able to hear it-doubt you will if those side pipes are straight through!- i would use components or seperates as they will let you place the tweeter just under the dash or in the kick panels directed towards you but the mid ranges can be hid away a little more.
a good audio shop should be able to give some more guidance.

I have a cheesy pioneer with three way speakers in mine, only because with the gear drive you can`t hear it much anyways, unless the windows are up. but if you`re running a huffer, pipes and gear drive you`re not gonna hear much either...:eek:

The rod you want to put it in deserves more then I spent.
I got a '06 stereo from a Dodge ram on CL for $15. Had to get a plug off the web for the back of it that was $17. An ant. adaptor for $18 and wire it up. It is a tape/cd/ am-fm has serius to and tells me waht song is playing and who made it. I am running some cheap $20 rear speakers and some vintage ford speskers up front.
I would like to upgrade the speakers but am clueless as to what to look for and will scrounge around for some.
Sounds ok as long as the motor is off. LOLLOL:LOL:
