Tool, I'm a big fan of Deutsch connectors, they are weatherproof, very easy to disassemble without special tools. The only downside is you need a Deutsch pin crimper to make the crimps small enough to fit inside the connector bodies. MSD has an inexpensive crimper (Summit has their knockoff crimper also) but you need to buy the $30 Deutsch die set separate.
