I believe the general concensus is that those racks on a truck are not a good idea in most cases .......something to do with what is called bump steer ...do a search on bump steer to find out more on this subject. Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

Have you considered a clip swap or frame swap?

Bump steer is what happens at speed when you hit a bump. The front wheels can go into violent wobble and you could lose control of the vehicle.

I hope you guys talking about bump steer aren't confusing our discussions of a few days ago with hog's situation. We were talking about incompatibility with a BEAM axle. A Mustang II configuration is engineered for r & P and should perform well baring installation errors.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Well i did a 39 Chevy pickup for a guy with the Mustang II clip and a manual rack (per his request) Only took him about 6 months before he was back wanting the power rack. I drove it with the manual rack and although it was not overly hard to steer the power rack was much more user freindly.
".......So sanded it all down and resprayed. ......" Been there. done that on a couple of paint jobs over the years. Usually took me a couple of days to get over being mad before I started...
