HEI Solved
Well it's fixed. I changed the capacitor on Tuesday and the spark returned but still no start. Then yesterday noticed that I wasn’t getting gas to the carb. The problem with the dist must have been in the wiring or capacitor itself. The problem with the carb was that at some point I broke the accelerator pump arm off the carb. It was an edelbrock carb and the pump arm sits up in the front left corner of the carb body. I am now running a quick fuel technology’s Q750. Moral of the story, don't become so focused on a problem you don’t stay aware of everything else that’s going on and intermittent problems suck.
Thanks for all the ideas, the truck is running great again.
