you can easily fab a frenched gas cap. get a piece to metal tubing like 3 in exhaust tubing and cut the hole in the area to mount it. tack weld it in to get it fitted then weld in permanent.

If you are talking about making a 'stock looking' filler neck then follow sunset's post. If you are talking about a custom arrangement with a door there is an aftermarket [can't remember who's] unit that is teardropped shaped and goes on the slope of the rear fender. On my 39 Chevy I used a 70's volkswagon Beetle gas door that has the filler neck built it. I left about 1-1/2" around the door and welded it into the side of the trunk.
If memory serves me correctly, the 36's gas filler is on the drivers side. Mine is on the passenger side and I'm using a Tanks poly gas tank.
