Cool! There's a couple guys on the HAMB that have them also. We've kind of turned my build thread over there into a mini step van forum. Jump over there and look up AM General FJ-8A in the message boards if you want to take a look.
My friend got the hood straight for me and I've been working on the doors and inside panels. I got some of them primered this morning. Gotta stop for today, my oldest daughter is moving into her first apartment so I've got to go load up.

I just spied a '48 coupe in the last lot of photos and I have a real soft spot for those so glad to see it still sitting in it's corner patiently waiting for you to finish with that interruption...
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Yeah, the 48 is next. The whole idea of building this one was to generate revenue to put back into the 48.

More primer; I'm just about done with the inside panels. I hope to get everything primered by next weekend except for the rear roll up door and start getting the painting finished up. It's been so hot here it almost kills you to work outside but today was a little better, only got up to 95.

Who needs a bake oven with those temps Eh??? Thanks for posting the update on the coupe thread, appreciate it and read right thru so to catch up.
You guys have been a great help to me as when I have been really down with pain, I get on here and follow your builds and because I am unable to get out into the garage myself, you guys help keep me motivated and the flame alive.

No, no ice cream sales. I'm hoping for a good sale price on the truck. This truck is you, Gary. You should buy it. Every kid in the neighborhood would love you.
I was off today so I got some really tedious jobs done. The back bumper and several 1" metal angles and strips that hold in the window glass and the wiring harness to the roof all had several coats of paint. I sat in the chair all morning with a 2" grinder and a box of paint stripper discs and got them all cleaned up and primered on the front, black Rustoleum on the back. I painted the inside of the hood black. The front bumper got dropped at a local shop to see if they could get the kink out of one end. The motor had a miss under a load so after messing with carb adjustments for a while I decided to put a better coil and ignition module in my $59.95 Ebay HEI distibutor. Much better now; I guess the Chinese company that built it used some bottom of the barrel ignition parts.

I got the last of the outside panels painted; doors, hood, bumpers, plus some inside trim for the windows. I have to get some more paint to finish the inside panels but it's just about there.

As unprofessional as it sounds, my secret is dust. There's so much dust on everything right now, nothing sticks to it.
I'm using an HLVP gun so the paint doesnt travel very far, and I just tack everything down before I spray it to make sure it's clean. Now to put it in perspective; this is a really inexpensive white single stage paint job without a clear coat and the body was far from perfect. I figure it's a stepvan and will probably get used as such so I'm not sweating it; just wanted to get it one color and reasonably decent looking. If it was a nice street rod I'd spend a lot more time on the body and take more precautions. This is more like the Earl Sheib special done at home.
