I've used it for years and no problems. If you're getting your headers wet and leaving them that way yes, it will lead to rust problems. If you wash your engine start it up after and let them dry out. Header rust anyway wrapped or not.
But it will reduce under hood temperature significantly.Livin' on Route 66
