    cleaning blocks

went down to my local machine shop.whats going on,he said that they do not hot tank engine parts anymore epa regulations. he told me to put the block in the oven and heat it up.then scrub it down.ok. is this a problem around the country or just local regs.? it's been a while since i needed a machine shop and when i lived in va. had access to a fully equipmented shop after hours.

The good ole EPA put a stop to hot-tanking over a year ago, at least where I live, and probably everywhere else.

My machine shop guy used some other procedure (I forgot what it was) on a block I took to him. I'm pretty sure heating it up first was part of the treatment. He said the hot tank did a better job but you do what you gotta do.

Pat McCarthy will know about this.
