    No. I think the only trans that will fit is a Fordomatic cast iron unit,pretty much an antique.

    If this is the production motor that originally came in the truck, it's a 223. If your transmission has gone south, that's reason enough to hit the boneyards for a 300/C4 combination in my opinion. I don't know if the motor mount stands are different. If so, cut the stands out of the donor truck and bolt or weld them into your '55.

    You can find carbureted 300/C4 combos in Ford trucks from '65 to '86.
