I can't see any reason to change the harmonic dampener..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

I was told the TPI motor will not have timing marks on the dampner. Is that incorrect? I have only worked on carberated motors so I have limited knowledge

Use a degree tape to degree the damper. Follow these instructions I wrote...
