Where is your Battery Mounted?
I have a glass 32 Ford. Right now the interior is not done, just seats in the car. I have the battery in the trunk/passenger side towards the interior side of the car. Here is a picture.

Where are most of you mounting your battery? I know that a lot of people seem to mount them in the trunk (center or passenger side) but also wanted to know if anyone mounts them on the inside of the car, behind the passenger seat?
Where seems to be the most common and or best place to mount the battery?
Thanks,Last edited by bucs012; 09-14-2008 at 10:03 AM.

If you go inside the passenger compartment, do not use a lead/acid battery (wet cell battery). Fumes are produced during charging that are not only not cool to breathe, but are explosive as well. Even if you put one in the trunk encase it in a box that is vented outside the car.
You CAN mount a drycell battery like an Optima or Odyssey inside as they do not have this problem.

That's a good place that you have
This photo is a Summit battery box with a Speedway Optima hold down bracket inside:

This is where mine is mounted:

And a poor photo during the early part of my wiring:

I have the starter relay on the fender side, the master on/off switch on the front side and an oops on the left side (I cut the ground wire too short but am using a commercial mounting post for the correction).Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Here is a better picture of my trunk and why I asked the original question. As you can see in the picture. My trunk floor is NOT flat...Over the rearend/wheel area it humps up, so about the only place to sit the battery so that it sits flat....is infront (toward the front of the car.) This puts my battery half in the trunk area and half in the interior area.
In the picture below, you can see the grey partition bar (see upper and center of the picture) as it slants at an angle to the floor opposed to running straight up/down vertical. Where my battery sits right now in the picture DOES sit FLAT, but...it is in the middle of the slanted bar I am talking about which would put it half in the interior and half in the trunk.........
I assume the interior guy can just work around it? I just want to mount it one time and not have to move it for interior work.

My battery box is mounted on the frame, passenger side, underneath the rear seating area about 12 inches in front of the right rear tire. I have no trunk nor anyplace under the hood for one. Good location except when you need to replace it. Then you better have a lift to get to it.
