    29-32 ford sedan

Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a '28-'32 2 door sedan to rat rod and I was trying to get some input on how to set the frame up. Is there a frame that will swap in or is it better to build one. I know the s10 frame is popular for the 50's but i don't know with this year. I have the option of getting one with the frame or I can buy just a body. Thanks for any and all help!

While it may be more creative "fun" to work with an S10 frame, you ought to count your pennies and take a look at the Brookville frame for the A. It comes with all the necessary mounts welded on and is jig-welded. My son and I checked the one we bought and were amazed at how straight it is across the corners and from side to side. On another note there is a guy near me who mounted a '27 Ford roadster body nicely on a Bronco frame by REVERSING the frame! He had to weld in trailer spring mounts in the rear of the '27 body on what WAS the front of the Bronco and he then added a Mopar 318 for what I admire as a very innovative piece of work. So if you are a clever welder and innovative you can weld any metal into a useable frame, BUT (!) take a hard look at the Brookville frame. Believe me it is a delight to find all the brackets right where they should be when it comes time to add the master cylinder, the front end and the rear. The only slight fault or correction to the Brookville frame is that it only has one crossmember. I added a second crossmember to hang a safety loop for the drive shaft and I had a piece of 1 1/2" x 3" rectangular cross section steel tube welded across as a second "ladder brace" and I think that added more strength to the frame without adding much weight and now I also have a way to hang the exhaust system as well. Maybe someone on this Forum can send a picture of an S10 bare frame but you will then need to fingure out where and how to weld a few brackets. Still, after seeing that reversed Bronco frame, a creative welder can do just about anything.

Yup, that. No go wash your brain out with soap for even considering an S10 frame for a model A.
