I think you would have better luck hanging out at some car show or something and making friends with someone in the business and having him help you or ask if you can hang out at his shop when they aren't busy or on the weekends if he owns one. I went to school for autobody and made just over minimum wage and was changed engines and trannys, doing bodywork, painting and buffing, and the kid down the street flipping burgers made more money. None were willing willing to train you on anything they just wanted cheap labor. You can learn a lot by just reading as much as you can on what you are trying to do, and then trying it.
