V tands for Lincoln, D=197_ and 1 =1971, so it is a 1971 lincoln, which makes me wonder what the difference in motor mounts is all about. Should I sell this engine and get a Ford block?

No idea what the difference in the blocks would be.... I'd check with the parts store, betcha the big Lincoln and big Galaxie from '71 have the same mount pattern for the engine mounts on the block.... Just a matter of determining which one is the single bolt mount that fits the crossmember....

hopefully i explained it right..... Trying to see the blocks are the same, but the mounts from Ford to Lincoln may be different....Make sense??????
