Well, the Chevelle SHOULD have been done today...
I say SHOULD because something happened on sunday night while spraying the graphics that myself, my DuPont rep and maybe HER Rep are still trying to figure out. I laid out the graphics like I always do. Wiped down the entire car with wax and grease remover and 2 new rags. Tacked it and let it sit for 20 or so minutes, just like I always do. Mixed my Violet pearl into my clear like I always do. Stepped into the booth and started in the middle of the hood on the right side, and let her rip! A couple of passes into the hood, it looks like the paint is fish eyeing... maybe a bit light on my first pass...? Anyway, I open it up a bit more and continue, going down the hood and onto the front valance, onto the front fender, down the door and onto the rear quarter... Long story short, the valance, fender tops and sides, and rear quarters are PERFECT! The hood and both doors look like I wiped them with WD-40 instead of w&g remover!!! Fisheyes looking like the moon!!! So bad that on the doors it started to run!!! The only difference in ANYTHING...everything else being equal is the hood and doors are fiberglass. BUT, I sealed, primed and based EVERYTHING on the car...???? Anybody got an idea??? I'm "guessing" at this point, but maybe the 'glass pieces had a static charge??? Is that even possible??? I have NEVER run into anything like this before...HOTROD, where are you???!!!??? REALLY need to get it done...I've got a '52 Chevy coming in tomorrow for a complete candy red metalflake body w/pearl white top... and the shop is FULL of bikes!!!!
If its not worth doing right, its not worth doing... Donny, MaxxMuscle Custom Painting
