1941 chevy SD center console Idea's? pic's

I'm changing to bucket seats and needed some ideas on a center console that I can get from a junk yard or aftermarket . I have a B&M shifter I was hoping to have sit inside of the console and have a set of switches mounted inside a compartment in the console that I can lock shut. I think it would be cheaper to find one that my interior guy can work off of rather then have him fab one.

I would think building one out of wood , and covering it would be better IMO

Start with construction paper and tape , and make to your liking , then just un-tape it , and use it for transfers for the wood .

Be your own style and you did it yourself
Plus you can add drink holder holes , an arm rest , the ideas are almost endless .
Or use a nice top laminate type ( walnut , birch , ect..) plywood , and stain it and clear it for a rich look .

I agree with SprayTech.it's not very hard to make using the card board model.I use the B&M hammer shifter,A/C Controls,Alpine stereo,Vents 2 on the side &1 on the rear & door,trunk switches on rear vertical panel.I trimmed with black acrylic. I built the one for my '71 Ford pickup out of about $3.00 worth of 20 ga. steel.... As the others have said, I just started out with some posterboard and made some templates, transferred that to the 20 ga., cut it out and welded it up...
