Thanks for the input guys I really appreciate it.
Kev- feel free to ask away, if I can't answer it these guys here have been a great help to me. Of course after building a car like this it's easy for me to tell you what I might change to make it better. I'll tell you one thing, this post from Brian helped me a lot for my frame build:

Looking nice. Keep it up and you'll be on the road this spring with "real" motor noise.

It seems sooooo close, I got most of my plumbing done, had to make a bracket to mount my pump and regulator to so it wasn't hanging down below the frame where I had originally planned to put it. I also stuck the headers on for mock up (and to see how it looked). I'm running out of room but I think all I have left to mount is the tranny cooler.
I bought a set of Lokar throttle cable and kickdown cable the other day, do I have to take the pan off the tranny to get that KD cable on?? If anyone has a picture of how they did theirs I would appreciate it.
What do you guys think, Black or red grill shell??
Sean
I've been tinkering on my electrical system for a little while now. I got the back end done including the brake switch and neutral safety switch. The wires up front are all run I just need to mount all my senders and stuff. The interior is coming along but I had to do some painting and remount my steering assembly so my dash could get wired up. I did my gauges with a removable face so they're all hooked up, what a mess of wires there took some thinking to clean them up.
I did my ignition as well but I'm trying to search out why my ignition power has an extra wire spliced into it, any ideas where this goes???
Sean
Did some more wiring today, mostly running wires as I'm stuck on my fan connections and didn't get a chance to call EZ wire today.
I took a little break from it and got a shroud built and got my rad all mocked up. I still have to run the rods back to the cowl and I think I should make a lower support for the fan and shroud, they're bolted in four places to the grill shell but I don't think the fiberglass is too strong.
Turned out pretty tight with the new shell, only about a half inch to the pulley bolts. Might have to shave them down a bit.

I got all my electrical wired up and everything seems to work fine. I had my signal light indicators reversed so I was lucky they were plugs. I was stumped on my headlight wires, I bought some braided steel looms from Speedway but they were pretty cheaply made and I couldn't bend them far enough around without kinking so into the bin with them. I bought a bunch of copper tubing and some elbows and ran the wire through them, I thought I would polish them up a bit once everythings done.
I got my rad and grill etc. all mounted up with the hoses and such in place, it's solid as a rock, I think I might of over did it but with the clearance on the front pulley I didn't want it moving.
I'm trying to get it ready to start u and do the break in but I seemed to overlook my crankcase venting. I got the parts just need to add them on.

Sean it's looking great!

Made a big mess but most was from before the start:D.

Sean sounded good. What was with the fluid leaking? Was that tranny fluid?
Cute driver in the last photo!:)
Yea it was. I thought I better top up my tranny but I forgot to put the old driveshaft yoke in:o.

I was getting pretty burnt out lately so I took a little break. Yesterday I decided to try my hand at some upholstery work for my seats. I went and bought a big chunk of leather, got some kneeling pads from Princess auto (HF in Canada) and some floor underlay from Home Depot.
Got it shaped up with the kneeling pads, covered it with the underlay, and then started to put the leather on. Have to go buy more to finish but I started on the stitching last night. I've never done anything like this so it took me a while and the stitching is very time consuming. I used the strong thread they gave me to do the seam between the upper and lower and then started on the lacing that is going to go all the way around. Here it is so far.
Sean
Just a few more, gotta figure out how to flod the corners. Hopefully gonna go get my new driveshaft today as well.
Sean
That stiching looks great! How sore are your fingers now?:)
Looks great Sean. Nice leather interior, at down home prices!:3dSMILE:
Seen this from the beginning SGO and you did a great job and geez does it sound great . Had my A for sale but thoughts are now to get it going to but a later date . Drive on down for the Pile Up in Morris Illinois . Your car will get in the gate first off from what I seen .
Thanks guys, it feels so close now, lots of little things to clean up and get it off to inspection. The place I had been talking to has moved to a new city about an hour and a half away so now I have to find someone else or go for a long drive.
65ny-yea I feel like I high fived a porcupine!
Sean
today was busy. I got some more stitching done, hooked up my e-brake cables, mounted the driveshaft ($250 including u-joints), and got my roof all in. Also got the steering wheel mounted, horn hooked up, and cleaned up under the dash a little bit.
I have to work for a few days but then have three weeks off so I want to try and get it finished up for inspection.
Sean
Looking good Sean, hope you get the car finished up on your time off....almost cruizin' time!!!!
just posting a picture for ya Heatwave. Everything is tight around my starter, check out the tranny dipstick.
Sean
I have a feeling I'm going to be right there with you Sean. With the transmission cross member cut out the 460 has a few more inches to go back before it's up against the firewall in my truck! 92 degrees in the shade yesterday!:)
Well today was a good day for me. It took a couple of tries but I finally got through the inspection process. I kind of lost track on my thread here but the first time in he said he can no longer pass without fenders so I made some cheapies that will just unbolt. I've been going for a few cruises here and there with the transit plate on, I considered them test drives for servicing in case I got pulled over:D,
My exhaust was a little too loud being that the turnouts are about 3' from my ears so I ordered some big Supertrapp disc only mufflers. I mounted them on the ends of the turnouts and pulled out the baffles I had and it seems to have tamed it a bit. Sure does jump off the line now.
I think a few more cruises and my first car show this weekend then I'll fine tune the motor a bit better. Here's some shots without and with my ugly fenders to be removed soon. Also had to bolt on a bumper thats kinda growing on me.
Thanks for all the help here guys!!!
Sean
Well you have to do what ever to get it passed . Once you remove fenders will you still get by or will local law enforcement hassle you some .
I think I'll keep it as is for now and just get a feel for that. There's a few fenderless cars around that seem to get by okay, I'm more worried about the noise. There cracking down on loud vehicles now so I have to let off the gas if I see a police car.
A funny thing happened on my way home from the first inspection. I just pulled out of the inspection facility right next to a police van. My idle was a little high so I jumped out at a light and dropped it down only to make it louder with the lumpy cam:CRY:. He was in front of my all the way into my neighbor hood about a half block from my house. Trust me, I was puckering all the way home but he didn't even seem to care.
Sean
He must of thought it was cool and just wanted to see it run . Yeah laws are getting tough on somethings and we have to live with them .
Any way SGO your car is screaming look at me and you did a super job .
Sean the fenders will be nice if you find yourself driving over any gravel. I remember coming out of a gravel parking lot one winter in my Jeep CJ7 which had 33 inch tires on it at the time. As I started driving down the road, the mud and rocks started flying off the tires. I heard this cussing and yelp, looked back in the mirror to see a bicyclist wearing a mud stripe with a red arm! I was too imbarased to stop, but made sure to stay out of the mud for awhile!:LOL:
Cool lookin model a :D
