    Steering box

Hey guys I was going to order some parts and was wondering about the Flaming River steering box from Speedway. Anyone ever use one of these?? I was considering a power steering setup cause I thought it might feel too heavy with the SBC engine up front, any suggestions on one that's not too bulky?? It's for a '27 Model T sedan, no hood or fenders, suicide front end and I want cross steer.

    Sean.

Folks may not remember what kind of car you're working on so you might want to add that to the equation/question.

Both my Son and I are using a Flaming River box in our T's, but the reversed Corvair variety. I think it is derived from the Vega style you are considering. It looks like my other Son Dan will be ordering the Vega one for his '29, at least that is what we have been discussing.

I had to send my box back to the factory as the grease was leaking out. However, they handed me a new one at Daytona no questions asked, all I had to do was send back the defective one. So far, so good with the replacement one and with the one on Don's T.

We have no reservations about using them on the cross steer version, it seems like they make a good product and the steering is very smooth with the two we have.

looking to replace my vega box

I 'am looking to replace me vega box[using cross steering.] on my 23 t-bucket. They say there is a lot of import boxes & gears being used. How good are they???? They don't give much warranty with them.. I think they are very important,if I 'am going to ride in it.. Any help would be great. THANK YOU.

Just to get some basis, what are your reasons for wanting to replace the Vega box?

My 32 Coupe has a Flaming River Vega box with a cross ster setup. The car has thousands of miles on it with no problems. I have a small block Chevy in it. The manual steering is not too heavy for me.
I may not be good but I sure am slow
