    Brake Dust?

I've been running my Mustang at the track fairly frequently and whenever I do the race pads dust so badly that the car gets covered in brake dust. I've tried to wash it off but it seems to stick to the paint. I've even washed the car with a deck brush and it certainly helps but it still doesn't get it all off! Obviously, scrubbing your car with a deck brush can't be good for the paint. Has anyone else experienced this and what have you done to remedy this situation?

Wash the car and while its still wet use a clay bar on it... any brand works the same, Mothers, Meguiar's, etc. all sell one, pick it up at your local autoparts/wax store or even at WalMart. the clay will take off brake dust residue like nobody's business and a bunch of other crap embedded in your paint that you don't even know about. After that, put a good coat of wax on it, and the dust won't stick nearly as bad... if it does, repeat the above steps. I used to work as a detailer at a dealership and new cars would come off the truck with a ton of "rail dust" from being transported on trains...the stuff was as rough as sandpaper and washing it wouldn't even begin to take it off, but clay made short work of it, so I know racing pad dust won't be a problem at all. -JB

Thanks Bro! I'll head out and pick up a Clay bar and some brake cleaner to clean all the dust that's accumulated on the suspesnion.
