4-speed "B-body" question.
I am welding in a 4-speed hump into a customer's '70 Charger. The transmission hump manufacturer said that some cars had the motor set back 3/4 inch farther than others, due to the trans crossmember being "off".
Does anyone know where to notch the floor stiffening rib for shifter clearance on these few cars? I would like to notch it now, just in case. It's a lot easier to do it before the hump is welded in place. Thanks.

Was he referring to the 70 specifically? That seems odd since the location is set more by the front K member than by the trans crossmember. The 70 only shows one V8 K member for wedge engines and one for Hemis. The 3/4" back difference does occur if you put a later K member in a '62-5 B body. Could that be what they're talking about?Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Well I've sure gotten old too so don't worry about it! I've had two bypass surgeries, new knees, fought prostate, cancer and diabetes. I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine,...
