Removing Raised White Letters from Tires

I just bought 2 new BF Goodrich 255/70 R15 tires for my Abone and unfortunately they were not available in blackwalls. Although I will be mounting the letter side on the inside, I don't want the letters to show. How do you remove the white paint?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Pat,
Unfortunately, you can't remove OWL's from tires. If you were to cut the tire apart, you would find a whitewall hidden there behind the black sidewall rubber. Get a can of the old pre Armor-All tire black and paint 'em out is about all I can think of - or, like most that I see, mount 'em and forget about it. I had a problem when I bought my rear tires as well but finally found some Dunlops in 17" that weren't truck rated.

Actually, match them on the front - they, IMO, really don't look bad like that

Yup, good old tire black will cover them up, fairly durable too. Last place I found a can of it was at a NAPA store.... Just plain old rattle can black will hide them too, just doesn't last as long...

Thanks Guys...I really appreciate the suggestions with the tire black. I already tried acetone with no luck. That's why I decided to ask the experts! Thanks again for your help.

Getting ready to put the Abone in storage next week and making last minute preparations. It was definitely a great season for crusin', especially in Rochester, NY. The best summer I ever can remember since living here the last 33 years.

I like the white out.Am I not with the program? BFG seems to be the tire of choice. Was it designed to put the white inside,IMO I think not.

Hoosier and G'year slicks have the letters painted on. Road tires have it all the way to the carcass - remember that the little old ladies have to park by feeling the curb thru the steering wheel and it for sure wouldn't do for the white to rub off

They are cool on certain muscle cars. Had them on a '68 Firebird and '69 Z. But on my Abone.......NOT! : )
