    C.V. Shaft

I am running an S-15 4X4 front end and I keep getting a vibration from the C.V. shafts. I install new ones, and a month later, they vibrate yet again. Upon inspection, the side facing the diff carrier seems to be bulging. Warrantee is great, but I really would like to know if a better solution is out there.
Objects in my rear view mirror are a good thing unless,.... they have red and blue lights flashing.

    sounds like it's too tight...

It sounds like the axle is too tight lengthwise and binding up the joints. Like the shaft might be too long.

I know your ride height is a little lower with the SBC, maybe the shaft sits different now. I would shim the axle housing up and away a little to try and gain some distance. Another option would be disassembling the CV axle and having the outer flange turned to allow the axle to fit a bit farther into the hub. Or machine the backside of the hub to do the same.
Ensure that the path of least resistance is not you...

Hey Grinder; that is the same thought I had so I took the shaft off at the diff and found that I had about an inch free play even when the hub was horizonal with the diff, so I doubt that is it.

Now, there is about a 1/4 inch room in the centre circle of the shaft where it mates to the diff. In other words, the mounting flange has about a 7 inch diameter which is recessed, and then there is a 5 inch circle which fits into the diff flange, however the center does not make contact with the diff, this is direct from OEM. So I am wondering if I made a 1/4 inch plate to try and put pressure on the center of the shaft housing so as to give it support, if that might be a good idea or a horrible idea. Me thinks bad.
