Thread: Calling All Pontiac Guy's Pontiac Gto 66/67

I have a chance to buy a 66 Pontiac GTO or a 67 GTO.
400 4-speed car,3.55 gear.
The other car is a 66 GTO with a 389,auto and 3.73 gear.
Both cars are numers matching or at least that is what I have been told anyway.
I have not seen either car.
I am told the 66 needs everything as far as body panels including a trunk floor.
The 67 needs rear quarters and front fenders.
Do any of you guy's know what the diference's are between the 66 GTO and the 67 GTO.

66 was last year of 389 67 was 1st year of 400 in gto

O.K,I did know that.
I guess I was wanting to know more about interior,exterior difference's as far as the body.

I think 66 came out 1 year before the 67's!!!!

I think most of the difference was trim, grille, and the usual things they changed on a carryover year... Don't go by me though, been a long time since I messed with the old GTO's....

O.K,Dave I did know that the 66 came out one year before the 67.

I'll probably be banished for this, but these guys are serious PONCHO heads.....[url]http://www.performanceyears.com. In my defense, they also help non Pontiac people (still GM) with exotic stuff and OEM Ponchos with a lot of banter and info like we share here.

I just checked out their web site.
They are very hardcore.

yes i do. this is a 66 gto the red car i know abit. the front end look the same it is not the 67 and the back of the car is not the same the roof line hood is the same hood from 65 to 67. doors are the same from 66/67 the 67 had more rocker trim i can build a 66 gto in my sleep but hey do not ask me i also can to drop a big block chevy them to

i look at that gto and i wish i did not sell it that body was arrow strait should of not cut it oh well

yep i hear you denny.. i got that car back in 1981 out of a barn for $400 i do not think you could find them deals now
